MCC offers more than $65,000 in scholarships for 2010-11

Montcalm Community College is accepting applications until 3 p.m. March 2 for 117 scholarships valued at $65,075 for the 2010-11 school year.

In 2009-10, MCC and the MCC Foundation awarded 108 scholarships to 99 students valued at nearly $70,000. Scholarships are available for 2010 high school graduates, other new MCC students and returning MCC students.

“Scholarships are an important way in which the Foundation gives back to the community,” said MCC Director of Institutional Advancement Terry Smith. “Community support allows the MCCF to have a greater capacity to help students fund their college education.

“This is especially beneficial as our changing economy requires access to post-secondary education and training for all people after high school,” Smith said.

Two new scholarships are offered this year.

One $250 MCCF Travis L. Bingaman Memorial Scholarship is available to a Central Montcalm High School graduate with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
