MCC hosts 28th annual holiday celebration Dec. 6

Montcalm Community College invites community members to celebrate the holidays during its 28th annual Santa’s Super Sunday Dec. 6 on MCC’s campus in Sidney.

Participants may visit and have their photograph taken with Santa Claus and his elf and enjoy refreshments, holiday music, swimming, children’s holiday crafts and tours of historic Heritage Village. All activities are free. The event runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Santa is available until 4 p.m.

“This event was developed to serve our community and has come to be considered MCC’s holiday gift to the community,” said Leslie Wood, MCC’s director of Workforce Development and Santa’s Super Sunday chairwoman. “MCC staff, students and faculty, as well as community volunteers and area businesses join in the festivities through their generous donations of time and resources. I hope everyone will join in this year’s festivities.”

More than 1,000 individuals, including more than 500 children, traditionally participate in Santa’s Super Sunday. The college and Montcalm Heritage Village members present the annual event, which is supported by donations from Montcalm County businesses. Donors include Wal-Mart; Meijer, Inc.; Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan; Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan Ladies Auxiliary; Anderson & Girls Orchards; Heart of Michigan Clowns; Jorgensen’s West Supermarket; McDonald’s of Stanton; McDonald’s of West Greenville; Michael Malley, DDS; MCC Bookstore; Fred Ehle; and John and Judy Wright.
